The Kardashian Sisters Are Reportedly Being Sued For A Breach In Contract For More Than $180 Million
The Kardashian sisters were reportedly sued on Monday by an investment firm seeking more than $180 million over their beauty line. According to TMZ, Hillair Capital Management in LA is filing a civil lawsuit against Kourtney, Kim, and Khloe over their makeup line Khroma Beauty.
Hillair is accusing the Kardashian clan because of a breach in contract, fraud, and deceit after they invested more than $10 million to support what they believed was a struggling beauty and makeup line.
The legal documents read that Hillair agreed to invest in the Kardashian Beauty makeup line in July of 2014, “after former distributor, Boldface, went belly up amidst legal and financial troubles. The essence of the parties’ bargain was that Hillair would put up millions of dollars to fund the continued distribution of the Kardashians’ line, and the Kardashians would continue to be the faces of the line, and actively promote, market and support the line.” Hillair believes that they held up their end of the deal, however the Kardashian sisters did not. They believe that the sisters wanted a better and lucrative deal, therefore they stopped promoting and they were allegedly seeking out potential buyers to buy Hillair out.
Hillair is claiming that they suffered significant damages, which includes $10 million already invested plus the value of their equity interest in the makeup line that was estimated between $64 and 180 million.
Surprisingly, this is not the first time the sisters ran into some legal trouble over their cosmetics line. Back in April of 2014, the reality stars settled a different copyright infringement lawsuit over their line Khroma Beauty. However, the Kardashians were not in this one alone. They were sued along with Boldface Licensing and Branding. In fact, their founder for the Florida-based Khroma makeup, Lee Tillett even filed a lawsuit back in June of 2012 as well.
The investment company is seeking a jury trial once this case goes to court.
