The Weeknd & Belly Cancel "Jimmy Kimmel" Appearance In Trump Protest
Belly and The Weeknd will not perform on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” The XO affiliates canceled their performance on the late-night show because Donald Trump was set to appear on the episode.
They were going to perform their hit collaboration “Might Not”, but Belly did not want to share a stage with the Republican presidential nominee because he does not agree with his views and beliefs.
“I feel like the way I was raised was to be able to see through all the titles in this world—from religion to race,” Belly said in a statement. “I just didn’t want to feel like I was a part of a celebration for somebody who has beliefs that majority of us don’t agree with.”
Belly, who grew up as a minority immigrant in Canada, is taking a stand against Trump, who has made detrimental remarks about minorities, women, and religious groups.
