Future Covers Rolling Stone Magazine

As he gears up to hit the road with Drake on their “Summer Sixteen Tour” next month, Future graces his first cover of Rolling Stone, addressing everything from Ciara to Desiigner in a rare interview.

“Future: Syrup, Strippers, and Heavy Angst with the Hip-Hop Hit Machine” features Hendrix speaking candidly about his failed engagement to the mother of his two-year-old son and their lawsuit-filled relationship of late.

“I can’t deal with it,” he says. “I can’t even think about it. I never imagined my life would be like that: ‘I’m going to sue you and take away from you.’ I don’t know how to deal with something like that. All I know is record, record, record, record.”

When asked about “Panda” hitmaker Desiigner and the comparisons some have made between them, Future is less open, but honest nonetheless.

“I never worried about anyone else,” he says. “I don’t even want his name in the article.”

Read more highlights from the Q&A below and grab the issue when it hits newsstands July 14.

ON HIS FAILED ENGAGEMENT TO CIARA: “I was scared as shit. I was one step away from being married, and I feel like I failed publicly in relationships. Then you want to go back to doing music, to what you know. And if the people didn’t accept you again, the one thing you feel like you can fall back on, it walked away from you. You feel like it’s over.”

ON WISHING CIARA WELL: “Her being successful, her being happy, helps me. I’m attached to you. If you’re happy, I’m happy. You’re connected for life. I don’t want you to go through this shit and for it to come back on my son, my kid. I want you to be in the best situation.”

ON MUSIC POST CIARA: “I embraced what I thought they was gonna hate about me. I was gonna turn the hate into love.”

ON HIS GRIPE WITH RUSSELL WILSON: “It’s something that’ll take more time for me. It ain’t even about [him] playing daddy. I don’t even want to think about it. That’s my son forever. My son is going to be able to read this. He’s going to be able to look at those pictures. He’s going to be able to have a judgment for himself, and have a conversation with me man-to-man. That’s my blood. He is me. I am him. We is one.”
